Hotel Boulevard
We stayed at Hotel Boulevard twice on our trip- once on our first night after
a grueling journey from Dallas to Africa, and then one more night between the
Tanzania and Zambia portions of our trip. So, in other words, it was
simply a transit city for us.
Since I was a child, I always wanted to visit Kenya more than anywhere else,
but due to crime in Nairobi and greater attraction of the parks in northern
Tanzania, we decided to limit our time here to transit time only.
Our Tanzania safari provider- East African Safari, booked us in this hotel on
both ends of our Tanzanian Safari, saving us the added trouble of finding
something for ourselves. That said (the header photo shows the lobby),
it was adequate.
The rooms were basic- a regular sized double bed. The parking lot was
fenced in, as were the grounds, so we did feel very safe here, though we would
not walk down the street. The food at the restaurant was pretty good,
and they had an Internet access room with 3-4 terminals, so it was a good
place to catch up on emails, too. The rooms were relatively cheap, for a
decent place to stay in Nairobi, though after our wonderful safari, the rooms
seemed pretty basic.
The hotel sits right on the Nairobi River, but because of a giant hedgerow,
you cannot see the river- a disappointment. The grounds themselves- the
backyard, if you will, was a pleasant place to walk through.
