Partway between Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater is Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important archaeological sites for studying our pre-human ancestors.  On the edge of the ravine is a simple, but very good museum, and nearby was the Masai Boma we visited (see People section for more detail).
