Zebra
Species:  Equus quagga (?)
Lifespan:  up to 40 years (in captivity)
Zebras are one of the most common animals in Africa.  They are the same as the zebras in Tanzania, but there are small, regional differences in the stripes that can be spotted by an experienced guide.
We saw zebra everywhere we looked inside the park, and we saw them outside as well.  They tended to keep their distance from us, so frequently we got pictures of their backends.

This fellow was spotted on our walking safari.

This area was near the Luangwa River in the park- we were on a slightly elevated spot on one of our safaries.
More zebras spotted on our walking safari in South Luangwa National Park.
And standing near those zebra were these zebra, on the walking safari.
These zebra were spotted in the river basin from our somewhat elevated position.  Puku and zebra were frequently together in South Luangwa National Park and the surrounding area.  They both graze and mutually benefit from each other's presence, being able to warn each other of possible danger.
